“Expect the Unexpected” – Mohammed Shami’s Surprise Net Practice Ahead of Comeback

Veteran speedster Mohammed Shami, who has been sidelined since the 2023 ODI World Cup due to Achilles tendon surgery, is preparing for a highly anticipated return. The 33-year-old, who missed the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) and the 2024 T20 World Cup, is now back in training.

Recently, Shami offered fans a sneak peek into his training regimen by sharing a video of himself practicing his batting in the nets on his official Instagram account. He intriguingly captioned the post: “When the bowler picks up a bat, expect the unexpected.”

Shami’s Batting Skills and Memorable Performances

Although Mohammed Shami is renowned for his formidable bowling, he has shown his batting prowess on occasion. His unbeaten 56-run innings against England during the 2021 Lord’s Test remains a highlight for many cricket enthusiasts.

Possible Return to India’s Test Squad

Shami last featured during the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, where he initially warmed the bench. He was brought into the playing XI after all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s injury against Bangladesh. Shami’s inclusion turned out to be a game-changer, as he delivered a memorable performance with a seven-wicket haul in the crucial semifinal against New Zealand.

The fast bowler ended the tournament as the leading wicket-taker, securing 24 wickets in just seven matches. His return to form has led to speculation about his inclusion in India’s upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.

    Upcoming Fixtures

Shami is expected to make his comeback during India’s two-match Test series against Bangladesh. The first Test will commence at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on September 19, while the second Test will be held at Green Park in Kanpur starting September 27.

Following the Test series, the two teams will also face off in a three-match T20I series, beginning on October 6 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

As Shami gears up for his return, fans are eagerly anticipating his performance and wondering how he will surprise us next.
