“Happy to Have Played With You, Skipper” – Dinesh Karthik Wishes Virat Kohli as the Star Batter Completes 16 Years in International Cricket

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik took to social media to congratulate Virat Kohli on completing 16 years in international cricket. Kohli reached this significant milestone on Sunday, August 18, marking his debut against Sri Lanka in 2008.

Karthik, who was last seen in action during IPL 2024, shared a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, August 20. Reflecting on his time playing alongside Kohli, Karthik wrote:

“Happy to have played with you, skipper. 16 years and the fire burns bright.”

Virat Kohli has cemented his legacy as one of cricket’s all-time greats, representing India in 533 matches and amassing 26,942 runs, including 80 centuries and 140 fifties. Under his captaincy, Karthik played seven T20Is, 25 ODIs, and two Tests. The two have also shared the field in the Indian Premier League, where Karthik played under Kohli’s leadership at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

After announcing his retirement from international cricket on June 1, Karthik has signed with the Paarl Royals for the upcoming season of SA20, becoming the first Indian player to compete in the South African T20 league. Speaking about this new chapter in his career, Karthik expressed his excitement:

“I have so many fond memories of playing in and visiting South Africa, and when this opportunity came about, I couldn’t say no because of how special it would be to come back to playing competitive cricket and win this incredible competition with the Royals.”

Karthik’s experience in the T20 format is extensive, having played 401 matches and scored 7,407 runs, including 34 half-centuries. Reflecting on joining the Royals, he added:
